C-43 Reservoir Access Roads Project (Staff contact, Alan Shirkey, ext. 2579)

The C-43 Reservoir project site in Hendry County covers approximately 10,000 acres of abandoned citrus grove. Access throughout the project site, and especially to the southern and eastern perimeter, has become more challenging over time. At the early stages of reservoir construction, a contractor will need to construct roads to provide improved access to mobilize equipment and materials, which will add time to the construction schedule. This project takes advantage of a window of opportunity prior to reservoir construction to build access roads so that the reservoir construction contractor will not need to expend up-front time for this activity, thereby, reducing the overall construct ion schedule by up to 4 months.

Resolution No. 2018 – 0309 Enter into a 320-day contract with XXX for the C-43 Reservoir Haul Roads Project, in the amount of $XXXX, of which $XXX is budgeted in dedicated funds (Save Our Everglades Trust Fund) and ad valorem funds in Fiscal Year 2017-2018, and the remainder is subject to Governing Board approval of future year budgets. Adler Yachts names North American dealer

Fort Lauderdale-based Yacht Sales International has been named as the exclusive North American dealer for Adler Yacht as the European brand seeks to enter the U.S. market.

The yachts are designed and engineered in Switzerland and built in Italy.

“When we met Wendy Meade and Udo Willersinn from Yacht Sales International in 2017, we immediately had a common understanding for yachting, and what nowadays yacht owners want and need,” said Adler Yacht CEO Philipp Pototschnik in a statement.

“We appreciate the knowledge and network Yacht Sales International has gained over the past years. We feel strong support from the partner we can trust in,” Pototschnik said. “With Udo and Wendy, we know, we are on the right path for mixing up the U.S. yachting market.”

“According to the usage behavior and the luxury and design U.S. customers are expecting, we knew that we could fulfill a demand which was still not satisfied,” Pototschnik said.

Notice to Navigation Interests: NTN 2018-02 Okeechobee Waterway – Ortona Lock Closure June 2018; Public Comment through March 31

Notice is given that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is notifying the public, marinas, commercial and recreational vessels traveling the Okeechobee Waterway that Ortona Lock will be closed for maintenance 4 through 16 June 2018. This will be the first lock closure along the Okeechobee Waterway in 6 years; maintenance is necessary to repair aging and damaged infrastructure in addition to improving public and vessel safety. Repairs will require the lock chamber to be dewatered for crews to perform inspections, replace gate seals and repair Manatee Protection system components. During the closure, barges, floating cranes and divers will be working in the lock entrance, requiring vessel operators in the area to use minimal speed and caution for safety.

Public comments and concerns related to this closure will be accepted until 31 March 2018 and can be mailed to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 525 Ridgelawn Rd., Clewiston, FL 33440 Attn: Gary Hipkins or can be emailed to Gary.L.Hipkins@usace.army.mil (please add “Public Comment on Ortona Lock Closure 2018” in subject line).
