Public Recreation Lease, Lee County (Staff contact, Stephen M. Collins)

he District wishes to issue a lease to Lee County, Florida on 50.58 acres in Lee County known as Caloosahatchee Regional Park. The initial lease to Lee County began in 2004 and expired on April 19, 2014. The District’s parcel ownership is surrounded by parcels owned by the State of Florida (TIITF). Lee County continues to manage both the District and TIITF lands jointly as a Regional County park offering outdoor recreational activities that are compatible with the preservation of the natural and historical resources of the property such as hiking, biking, horseback riding, camping, canoeing/kayaking, picnicking and special events. The Lease term is for one year with automatic one-year renewals. Both the District and Lee County will have a Termination for Convenience provision that allows the termination of the Lease with 180-days written notice. The District will not charge rent on this Lease.
